ABOUT Barcaldine Amateur Swimming Club Inc
Barcaldine Amateur Swimming Club is a small, community-based swimming club in Central West Queensland, supporting swimmers of all ages and abilities to develop their skills, confidence and love of swimming.
We are raising funds to help keep the cost of swimming as low as possible for our families, while also covering the essential costs that come with running a competitive swimming program. This includes purchasing and maintaining vital training equipment, bringing qualified coaches and training clinics to our region, and helping our competitive swimmers with the significant travel costs involved in attending carnivals and competitions.
Living in a rural community brings unique challenges. Our swimmers often need to travel hundreds of kilometres to access competitions, specialist coaching and opportunities that are more readily available to swimmers in larger towns and cities. These costs can quickly add up for families, particularly when multiple children are competing.
We believe where a child lives should not limit the opportunities they have to participate, improve and compete in the sport they love. Keeping membership and training costs affordable is particularly important to us, as we want every local child to have the opportunity to be involved in swimming, regardless of their family’s circumstances.
Our club is run by a dedicated group of volunteers, parents and supporters who are passionate about providing opportunities for local swimmers. Funds raised will go directly towards the practical costs of supporting our swimmers — from equipment and coaching clinics through to travel assistance for competitions.
By fundraising throughout the year and working together as a club and wider community, we hope to reduce the financial burden on individual families while continuing to provide quality training and competitive opportunities for our swimmers.
Every contribution, big or small, helps our rural swimmers get in the pool, develop their skills and chase their goals. Most importantly, it helps ensure that being from a small rural town doesn't mean having to miss out.
