ABOUT Bec Bennett
My name is Bec Bennett and I’m an Australian 400m sprinter currently pursuing my professional athletics career internationally, while I finish my Master’s degree in Psychology and Mental Health Counselling in the United States. With an undergrad in Physiotherapy, long term, my goal is to combine elite sport, physiotherapy and mental health counselling to help others navigate adversity, trauma, identity and performance, both within and beyond sport.
In 2019, I was selected on the Australian World Relays and World Championships teams and was on track to compete at the Tokyo Olympics. However, following a deeply personal tragedy, I had to step away from athletics entirely.
If you would like to understand more about that chapter of my life and journey back into sport, you can watch my speech here:

As painful as that experience was, it gave me the privilege of perspective. It taught me how fragile and special our time on this planet truly is and how important it is to fill our lives with the things that set our hearts on fire most. There is something incredibly meaningful about discovering the limits of human performance and pursuing the honour of representing your country on the world stage.
Eventually, I decided to return to athletics, not because I had to, but because I genuinely fell back in love with the sport and everything it represents. For over a year, I trained alone in Nevada, running sessions in the snow and desert heat with no guarantees that any of it would lead anywhere. I narrowly missed qualifying for the Paris Olympics, but shortly afterward was generously offered a track scholarship at Western Washington University in America to pursue my Master’s degree while continuing my athletic career.
Two years later, I have run a lifetime personal best of 52.5 seconds in the 400m and earned selection back into the Australian 4x400m relay pool. I now have my sights set on representing Australia again at future international competitions including the Commonwealth Games, World Championships and ultimately the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, pursuing redemption for the Olympic dream that slipped away before Tokyo.
To continue building toward those goals, I need to keep competing internationally, racing overseas against stronger fields and joining a professional training squad following my NCAA career that finished up in May 2026. However, this journey remains entirely self-funded.
Funds raised through this campaign will directly support:
- Coaching fees within a professional track squad
- International travel and accommodation
- European racing opportunities
- Recovery, physiotherapy and medical support
- Nutrition and performance services
- Day-to-day living expenses while competing abroad
Every contribution, no matter the size, genuinely helps me continue pursuing this dream and representing Australia at the highest level possible. I do not take that support lightly, and I’m incredibly grateful to anyone willing to be part of this journey.
Thank you for believing in me and helping make this next chapter possible 🇦🇺
