ABOUT Bentley Walker-Broose
Hi, I’m Bentley Walker-Broose,
a Cross Country Skier from Cooma, NSW, and a proud member of the Australian National Ski Team since 2016.
I grew up in the heart of the Australian ski community in Perisher—known for its wild weather and tough, resilient athletes. It’s where I developed the grit and determination that now fuel my passion for this sport. Surrounded by a community that inspired me every day, I’ve carried their support and strength with me as I pursue my biggest goal yet: representing Australia at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina.
Over the years, I’ve proudly represented Australia at:
- 26 World Cup events
- 2 Junior World Ski Championships
- 3 U23 World Ski Championships
- 1 World Championships in Trondheim, Norway
Throughout these competitions, I’ve consistently ranked among the top athletes in the Southern Hemisphere in my age group, improving year after year as I gain experience and refine my performance on the world stage.
What sets me apart is my relentless drive. I train over 900 hours a year, often solo and without a full-time coach—especially in the off-season, when snow is scarce and training partners are few. I’ve had to carve my own path, but it’s made me stronger, more resourceful, and more determined than ever.
I love this sport. I live for it.
And I will stop at nothing to give it everything I’ve got.
But here’s the challenge:
Cross Country Skiing in Australia is a small, underfunded sport. We receive little to no financial support from our federation, which means our international racing and training trips are 100% self-funded.
Each season, I face the rising costs of:
- Flights (often weekly)
- Accommodation
- Van rental and fuel
- Equipment like skis, poles, boots, race uniform, training uniform, warmup gear etc.
- Waxing (including hire of wax techs and waxing equipment)
- Race fees (per race)
- Coaching
- Nutrition
Each World Cup weekend alone (I did 10 this last season of 24/25) can cost upwards of $1,000 AUD—and that’s just one of many that doesn't even include other in between costs of travel and other hotels. The pressure to fund these trips often means working long hours, which cuts into training time and recovery—making it harder to compete against teams backed by multimillion-dollar programs, professional coaches, and world-class training facilities.
That’s why I’m asking for your help.
This fundraiser will directly support my campaign to compete at the highest level, and ultimately, to represent Australia at the 2026 Winter Olympics. Your contribution will allow me to focus fully on training and racing—without the crushing weight of financial stress.
With your support, you’re not just helping me ski—you’re helping me chase a lifelong dream.
I’m ready to give 100%. Are you ready to be part of this journey?
