ABOUT Brad Galgon
My name is Brad, and in 2026 I have the honour of representing Australia at the Masters Hockey World Cup in the Netherlands. This is more than a tournament for me — it’s the culmination of decades of commitment to the sport, a journey shaped by resilience, community, and the privilege of wearing the green and gold.
After managing numerous Qld and the previous 3 Australian teams
I was fortunate to be part of the 2024 World Cup winning Australian Mens Over 45s team, an experience that changed me forever. Standing on the field with teammates who had become a niche family and hearing the Australian anthem, and knowing we’d earned that spot in the main final through hard work and grit— it’s something I carry with me every day.
But the road to the next World Cup hasn’t been easy with recent World events this has pushed up the costs to get to Europe significantly.
Alongside managing & playing, I’ve dedicated myself to Masters hockey governance, analytics, and committee roles, helping shape pathways, selection frameworks, and the future of our sport. Representing Australia isn’t just about performance on or off the field — it’s about giving back to the community that shaped me.
Why I’m Fundraising
Unlike many elite programs, Masters athletes self-fund almost everything — travel, accommodation, uniforms, insurance, training camps, and tournament fees. The cost of competing internationally is significant, and as we prepare for an extended campaign in Europe, the financial load grows quickly with high airfares, accommodation, ground transport and uniforms.
