ABOUT Bridget Murphy
Growing up, horses were always more than just a hobby for me — they were my passion, my escape, and my gateway to a community. I was definitely born with the 'horse gene', (as well some 'quirky' genes thrown in to shake things up), and like most 'horse girls', I dreamed of competing at the highest level of the sport, but never really thought it was possible.
My love for horses kept me going, they gave me a purpose and lead me down pathways that would otherwise not existed. A chance encounter at a lesson 8 years ago opened up a doorway to high performance Para Equestrian, and I have not looked back since. Over the years, that dream has grown into a journey of resilience, determination, and partnership with incredible horses.
Today, I am proud to have become a Paralympian, representing Australia at the Paris 2024 games - the top level of para-equestrian sport.
My journey hasn’t always been easy, but every challenge has strengthened my commitment to pursuing excellence and inspiring others through sport.
With the support of my team, family, sponsors, and community, I continue working towards achieving my goals on the international stage and making Australia proud.
I am honored, and excited, to have been selected as part of the Australian Para Equestrian Team for the World Equestrian Games in Aachen, this August, 2026.
My team and I are working hard in the lead up to make sure we are ready and able to perform our best in the arena in Germany.
I am extremely appreciative to the Australian Institute of Sport, and the funding they provide to Equestrian Australia for making this possible for the Team. All flights, accommodations, entries etc are provided for us, which would otherwise make it impossible to take part.
Any further donations will directly support my Para Equestrian journey moving forward, and all that comes with it! This includes lessons, training, gym sessions, specific horse gear, groom fees etc.
(Donations over $2 are tax deductible)
