ABOUT Cameron Douglas Rene Edwards
🏀 Help Cameron Represent Western Australia at the 2026 Special Olympics National Basketball Games
My name is Cameron Edwards, and I have always liked playing sports. I started playing soccer at just six years old, training and competing throughout the winter season and continuing with indoor soccer during the holidays. Over the years, I also played athletics, tee-ball and basketball in and out of school.
In 2016, I transitioned from mainstream soccer to Equal Football, where I found a supportive environment that helped me to improve. It gave me the opportunity to build my skills, confidence, and love for soccer while receiving the support I needed. Since then, I have played Division 2 soccer with several clubs across Perth.
My passion for basketball began through inter-school competitions and grew stronger in 2024 when I trained at the Cockburn centre. In 2025, I joined the Kalamunda team in Division 2 and, through hard work and dedication, progressed to Division 1 this year. I now play basketball year-round, alongside soccer in the winter, and I love the speed, teamwork, and competitive spirit of both sports.
This year, I’ve been given an incredible opportunity — I have been selected to represent Western Australia in the 2026 Special Olympics National Division 1 Basketball Team, competing in Melbourne this October.
To take part, each athlete is required to raise $4,500 to cover essential costs such as training, flights, accommodation, meals, transport, and equipment. I am reaching out for your support to help make this dream a reality.
Representing Western Australia means so much to me. Every donation, no matter the size, brings me one step closer to competing in the national basketball games and doing what I love. I hope in the future, I can participate in the next Special Olympics in both soccer and basketball, and even to compete overseas.
Thank you for your support and for helping me pursue this opportunity.
