ABOUT Caroline Baird
Hi there,
My name is Caroline, I am a PTVI (vision impaired) para triathlete. My goal is one day to make it to the Paralympics.
Since my international debut in 2023, I have proudly represented Australia at events all over the world. Most notably at the World Triathlon Para Series in Devonport, Montreal, and Yokohama.
This year, my goal is to qualify for the World Championships. To be held in Wollongong, New South Wales. To represent Australia at the pinnacle event for Para Triathlon, in front of a home crowd, is an amazing and rare opportunity. Competing at the World Championships is also pivotal to my progression towards my dream of qualifying for the Paralympics in 2028.
As a vision impaired athlete, I cannot compete in triathlon without a guide. My guides are incredibly selfless, passionate, and dedicated athletes. And together we train and race in pursuit of my dream.
As such, when I qualify for a race internationally, I must raise funds not only for myself, but my guide as well. By donating through the Australian Sports Foundation, your support is 100% tax-deductible and will go directly toward helping me and my guide attend these races.
Your donation will go towards:
- Travel costs:
Travelling to qualifying events and international races including: Flights, oversize baggage costs to transport the tandem, accommodation, and transfers.
- Expenses for my quide to travel and compete.
- Equipment costs:
Including maintenance, servicing, and replacement of the highly specialised equipment that I use for triathlon, such as my tandem bike (currently second hand).
- General living expenses:
Including petrol, food to fuel my high-performance career etc.
I’m incredibly grateful that my journey in triathlon has given me so many wonderful and diverse experiences. The lessons I’ve learned through the sport have enriched every aspect of my life. With your support, I hope to continue this journey and share it with you along the way.
Your encouragement helps me make the most of these experiences — to keep learning, growing, and striving to be the best person and athlete I can be.
Thank you for visiting my page. I’ll leave you with a thought I often share in my public speaking:
Step out of your comfort zone. Make mistakes. Learn from them.
It’s important to savour the experiences along the way — they make the destination that much sweeter.
