ABOUT Central Coast Wheelchair Basketball Development Incorporated
We are a community where everyone is welcome to get in a chair and have a go.
Central Coast Wheelchair Basketball Development Incorporated was established as an independent association in 2026. This secures a permanent local foundation following seven years of successful wheelchair basketball development on the Central Coast through the support of Wheelchair Sports NSW/ACT.
Our Friday night sessions at Niagara Park bring together people of all ages, abilities, and experience levels.
Wheelchair basketball is uniquely inclusive, allowing people living with disabilities and able-bodied participants to compete together on the same court.
Why Our Members Join:
- Fitness & Recreation: Staying active and healthy.
- Community Connection: Building lasting friendships and confidence.
- Pathway Development: Challenging themselves through league and representative pathways.
Regardless of their individual goals, every participant has a place within our association.
The Challenge: Equipment Barriers
As participation grows, so does the urgent need for specialised gear.
The biggest barrier to wheelchair basketball is the cost of specialised sports wheelchairs. These essential chairs cost thousands of dollars, placing them out of reach for many local families. No one should be denied the chance to play because of cost.
Our goal is to build and maintain our own dedicated fleet of sports wheelchairs so that financial hardship never stops someone from hitting the court.
How Your Support Makes a Difference
Your tax-deductible donation directly funds:
- Fleet Expansion & Access: Purchasing new sports chairs in various sizes so new and casual participants can immediately get on the court.
- Maintenance & Safety: Funding ongoing repairs, servicing, and safety checks.
- Essential Spare Parts: Buying tyres, tubes, castors, and heavy-duty axles.
Be Part of Our Story
Every donation, no matter the size, helps remove barriers, build confidence, and ensure wheelchair basketball remains accessible on the Coast.
Together, we can keep building a welcoming community where everyone has the opportunity to get in a chair and have a go.
Thank you for supporting the future of wheelchair basketball on the Central Coast.
