ABOUT Claire Gouws
I started athletics 2 and a 1/2 years ago where I went to a competition to watch my my partner compete and met his coach at the time which then became my first ever coach and I am forever grateful for Marty.
I started with high jump and although I loved high jump and am very thankful for Marty that era was short lived as I found Triple Jump just 6 months later.
Ted my triple jump coach pulled me up at my annual club competition (Ipswich district Athletics Club Winter carnival) stating I needed to give triple jump ago and where have I been. In his words I had natural ping. From that day on I have never looked back and can’t thank Ted enough for where he has got me. To say I fell in love with triple jump is an understatement and to think that 2 years ago I had no idea what Triple jump was to now where I’ve been selected to represent Australia is something I never imagined.
At my first competition
August 2023 I jumped 10.70m
I am now sitting with a personal best of 12.26m almost 2 years later.
Being selected to represent team Australia does come with some significant costs. This trip is 100% self funded and I am aiming to raise $3500 to help cover accomodation, airfares, team uniforms, and team levies.
Every donation, small or large, helps and would mean the world to me. It will ease the stress and will go directly towards helping me get to Tonga.
I balance 4 full days working in childcare.
And 1 day coaching school athletes.
Which i absolutely love as well as,
Training like a full time athlete
I genuinely appreciate any support you can give, whether it’s a donation, a share, or just cheering me on.
Every dollar brings me one step closer to making this dream a reality and making you guys proud!
Thank you
