My name is Cleo Mayer and I am currently a player for the Sydney Sirens in the Australian Women’s Ice Hockey League (AWIHL). I’ve been playing ice hockey since I was 11 and have had the privilege of representing Australia at the IIHF World Championships, which is something I’m working hard to achieve again in the near future. During the winter season, I also play locally with the Liverpool Saints to continue developing my game.

I have been part of the Sydney Sirens since 2019 and it has been an incredible experience playing alongside some of the best female players in the country. The Sirens are a competitive team that has built a strong culture of excellence and resilience.

Playing ice hockey in the AWIHL requires a huge commitment both on and off the ice. Between regular training, gym sessions, travel for interstate games, and balancing work, it demands a lot of time, energy, and dedication. On top of that, it is also an expensive sport, with costs for flights, accommodation, equipment, uniforms, and ice time adding up quickly. As we prepare for the upcoming AWIHL season, I am seeking support to help cover costs. Unlike many other sports, players in the AWIHL are self-funded, which makes community support incredibly important.
