    ABOUT Southern United Football Club

    Forster, NSW

Southern United Football Club was created because our community needed it.

For many years, talented footballers on the Mid North Coast had limited opportunities to play at a high level without leaving home. Families travelled long distances, players were lost to larger centres, and local pride suffered. Southern United was built to change that.

Today, we compete in the Newcastle Football League, the highest level of football on the Mid North Coast. In 2026, the club will field three men’s teams and one women’s team, providing more local players than ever before the chance to develop, compete, and belong in their own community.

Our annual operating budget is $80,000, supported by local sponsors, fundraising initiatives, and volunteers. Despite this support, we are still seeking $30,000 to fully fund the 2026 season.

These funds are essential to ensure the club operates safely and professionally. Donations will directly support qualified coaching, essential playing and training equipment. Away fixtures can involve trips of up to 2.5 hours every second week, and funds generated will help the club to offer some bus travel , especially in the cold and dark winter months.

Southern United has been operational for five years and continues to progress through the Newcastle leagues. Several players have already been identified and moved on to larger Newcastle clubs. Every match is video recorded, with footage available on our website the following day, reinforcing accountability, learning, and pride.

Southern United exists because of local people, local businesses, and volunteers. Every donation helps keep players playing locally and secures the future of top-level football on the Mid North Coast.

All donations are made through the Australian Sports Foundation. Donations of $2 or more are tax deductible, and donations can be made anonymously.
