Help Build Cobden’s Reserve for the Future ONE RESERVE. MANY SPORTS. AN ENTIRE COMMUNITY. For more than four decades, the Cobden Community Bank Recreation Reserve has been a place where children learn, teams compete, volunteers contribute, families gather and friendships grow.Today, more than 1,800 people use the precinct each week for sport, school activities, community events and general recreation. However, the ageing and undersized facilities can no longer properly support the people who use them or meet the needs of a growing and changing community. Why your support is needed The main pavilion was substantially built in the early 1980s and has reached the end of its functional life. Steps and difficult entry points, narrow access, inadequate amenities, cramped changerooms, limited privacy and ageing shared spaces create genuine barriers to participation.These limitations particularly affect people with disability, older residents, families with prams, children and young people, and the increasing number of women and girls participating in local sport.The Committee of Management and reserve user groups have worked tirelessly to maintain and improve the existing facilities. However, patch-up work alone can no longer provide the safe, accessible, inclusive and welcoming community hub Cobden needs.No one should be prevented from participating, volunteering, supporting or attending because the facilities cannot accommodate them. What your donation will help create The proposed redevelopment will deliver:

gender-equitable and accessible changerooms, toilets and amenities;

improved first-aid, trainers’, meeting, office and storage spaces;

better facilities for spectators, volunteers, families and visiting groups;

safer movement throughout the pavilion, including lift and stair access between levels; and

a roofed and lit multi-purpose venue that can convert between five cricket nets, a tennis court or a netball court, providing weather-protected training and activity space for sport, schools and other suitable community uses.

This is much more than the replacement of an old building. It is an investment in community health, inclusion, participation, education, volunteering and social connection.Better facilities will enable more people to participate, volunteer, attend and remain involved. They will also strengthen Cobden’s capacity to host sport and community events, welcome visitors and generate activity throughout the year. The project is planned and ready A dedicated Development Subcommittee has worked closely with Phase Building Design to complete detailed plans and costings. With the strong support of Corangamite Shire, the project is shovel-ready and structured so that construction can proceed in stages as funding becomes available.Stages 1 and 2 are the immediate priority. Together, they will deliver the essential pavilion improvements and the roofed, lit multi-purpose venue the reserve needs now.Stage 3 will complete the long-term vision through the renovation and extension of the first-floor social rooms and supporting facilities.The planning work has been done. Now we need the support to build it. Your donation will make a difference A redevelopment of this scale will require significant support from Federal and State governments and major funding partners. Community donations are also vital.Every donation, large or small, will help move the project forward. Just as importantly, every contribution demonstrates the strength of community support and helps build the momentum needed to secure further investment.Whether you are a player, parent, volunteer, supporter, former resident, local business owner or simply someone who believes that strong facilities help build strong communities, you can be part of Cobden’s future. PLEASE DONATE TODAY AND HELP BUILD A SAFE, ACCESSIBLE AND WELCOMING RESERVE FOR EVERYONE - FOR THE NEXT 40 YEARS AND BEYOND. All donations of $2 or more made through the Australian Sports Foundation are tax-deductible.
