    ABOUT Derwent Sailing Squadron

    Sandy Bay, TAS

The Derwent Sailing Squadron is a community boating club with a proud history of bringing people together through a shared connection to the water.

For more than 140 years, the Squadron has provided opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to participate in boating, whether through sailing, cruising, racing, learning, volunteering or simply enjoying the camaraderie and lifestyle that comes with being part of a club community.

At its heart, the Squadron is built on the belief that boating should be accessible to everyone. We are committed to creating an environment where people feel welcome, valued and supported, regardless of age, gender, ability, experience or circumstance. The diversity of our membership is one of our greatest strengths and reflects the inclusive culture that has long been part of the Squadron.

The Squadron provides pathways for participation at every level, from those taking their first steps on the water through to members competing at national and international events. While achievement and performance are celebrated, equal importance is placed on participation, personal development, friendship and the sense of belonging that comes from being part of a strong club community.

As a member driven not for profit organisation, the Squadron's success is underpinned by the contribution of volunteers, members, staff, sponsors and supporters who share a commitment to the future of boating in Tasmania. Together, they help create opportunities for people to get on the water, develop their skills, form lifelong connections and contribute to a vibrant and welcoming club culture.

The Derwent Sailing Squadron remains committed to fostering participation, encouraging excellence, strengthening community and ensuring that boating opportunities remain accessible for current and future generations.
