    ABOUT Dylan Bailey

I'm incredibly excited to have been selected to represent Australia at the Youth World Climbing Championship in Helsinki, Finland, this August! I recently competed in the Australian National Sport Climbing Championship and qualified in first place in Lead Climbing for my age category in Australia, earning this incredible opportunity. It's a dream come true to be able to compete on the world stage and represent my country.

I will be competing in the Under 17 Men's category, and I feel truly privileged to have earned this spot.

Lead Climbing and the Skills Required

Lead climbing is a dynamic and challenging discipline in competitive sport climbing. Climbers ascend the wall, clipping their rope into quickdraws (anchors) as they progress, without prior knowledge of the route. This demands not only physical strength and endurance but also mental sharpness, problem-solving, and precise technique. To prepare for the World Championship, I have been training rigorously, focusing on building finger strength, core stability, and cardiovascular fitness, while refining skills such as route reading, dynamic movement, and managing competition pressure. Training requires dedication, discipline, and countless hours in the gym, pushing both body and mind to new limits.

    A Dream Come True

Qualifying first in my age category at the national level is a milestone I am incredibly proud of, and representing Australia at the Youth World Climbing Championship is an honour that motivates me to train harder and perform at my best. Competing in Helsinki will allow me to test my skills against the world’s top youth climbers, gain invaluable experience, and proudly carry the Australian flag on an international stage.

    How You Can Help

To make this dream a reality, I am launching this fundraising campaign to cover essential costs for the Championship, including:

    • Registration fees for the Youth World Climbing Championship
    • Flights to and from Helsinki
    • Accommodation during the event
    • Climbing gym entry fees for continued training

Your support, no matter the amount, will make a significant difference in helping me compete at this prestigious event. Every contribution brings me closer to representing Australia and pursuing my passion for climbing.

    A Heartfelt Thank You

I am truly privileged to have this opportunity and am grateful for the encouragement from my coaches, teammates, and community. Your support means the world to me, and I promise to give my all in Helsinki to make Australia proud. Together, we can make this journey possible!
