    ABOUT Eleanor Downey

Hi, I’m Eleanor — a 15-year-old athlete from regional Victoria with a passion for running that began at Little Athletics when I was 7. Since then, I’ve progressed from local meets to competing at State and National levels. I’ve proudly represented Victoria at the Australian Little Athletics Championships in 2023 and 2025. I have also competed for Victoria at the 2024 Athletics Australia National Cross Country Championships and the 2025 National Track and Field Championships. I’ll again be competing for Victoria at the 2025 National Cross Country Championships this August.

I currently hold four Australian records in the 800m and 1500m for my para-athletics classification in the Under 15 and Under 17 age groups.

Now, I’ve been selected to represent Australia for the first time at the 2025 Virtus World Athletics Championships in Brisbane this October — an exciting step toward my ultimate goal of competing for Australia at the Paralympic Games.

This is a self-funded event with no government or team sponsor support. The total cost is around $6,000, covering my flight, accommodation, team fees, and uniform.

I’m fundraising to help cover these costs, and every bit of support brings me closer to the start line in Brisbane — and one step closer to my Paralympic dream.

Thank you so much for being part of my journey!
