    ABOUT Ella Robinson

    The Ponds, NSW

Wearing Australia across my chest is perhaps one of my greatest achievements in life and I hope to do my country proud once again. My selection on TAPO is something that I will never take for granted, and I have already dedicated countless hours and energy to training for both ICU Worlds and now the ICU Asian Championships. I first started dancing at 3 years old, and was recently honoured to compete at the 2026 ICU World Championships as part of Australia's first Senior Pom Team.

Though continuing my role in TAPO is my proudest achievement and is truly an experience that I would pay any amount for, it has involved a significant financial commitment that athletes in other sports do not have to front.

Though performance cheerleading is recognised by the Olympics as an eligible sport and is competing for a spot at the 2032 Olympics, the Australian government does not recognise our governing body, meaning we get no financial support. Since January 2026, I have travelled domestically and internationally, driven 4 hours every fortnight to attend state-based training, had to pay for costumes, uniforms, and supplies. Throughout this time, I have also undertaken university nursing placements, meaning I am unable to work for multiple weeks at a time, which makes covering these costs slightly harder. I have also had to cover the cost of entry to the competition, flights and accommodation in the United States and now Malaysia. This has amounted to over $10000 of expenses.

I am not hoping to raise funds to cover the entire trip, but just to subsidise additional expenses that have been required of me as a Team Australia athlete.

I am extremely grateful for the support and encouragement that I have received from my university, gym, family and friends. Your encouragement and belief in me over the past year has meant more to me than any financial donation.

Thank you all so much for backing me on a journey I never thought I would get to take.
