    ABOUT Emily McMullen

After competing in a bunch of sports growing up — including Little Athletics, gymnastics, Ninja Warrior, and women’s football — I was lucky enough to represent Australia in dragon boating as part of the U18 Auroras national team at the World Championships in Thailand in August 2023. After that amazing experience, I was on the lookout for a new challenge… and that’s when I discovered canoe sprint.

Fast forward just 15 months, and I’ve come home from the 2025 National Sprint Championships with 6 gold medals, a spot on the Australian team, and a big dream: to represent my country at the 2028 Olympics.

Outside of sport, I’ve always loved working with my hands and started a carpentry apprenticeship in January 2025. I honestly enjoyed every minute of it, but the early mornings and long hours just didn’t work with the intense training schedule that elite sport demands. So, for now, I’ve hit pause on that career to chase my dream on the water.

But chasing a dream doesn’t come cheap — especially in a sport where we don’t get paid. I’ll be heading to Portugal soon with the Australian Team to compete at the ICF Junior and U23 Canoe Sprint World Championships, and I’m looking for support to help get me there.

If you’d like to be part of this journey, every bit of help means the world.
