    ABOUT Evie Haseldine

    Sydney, NSW

Last Olympic cycle, I (along with previous helm, Olivia Price OLY), saw success standing on the podium at the World Sailing Championships in The Hague, Netherlands. The campaign cumulated in a 9th place at the 2024 Olympic Games, significant achievement after only 2.5 years sailing together.

Although this wasn't quite enough. I have teamed up with international match-racer and ex-ILCA sailor, Brooke Wilson, in an attempt to be the World's Best once again.

In Sydney, Australia, Brooke and I train 5-6 days a week at Middle Harbour Yacht Club in the Australian Sailing Team 49erFX Squad.

2026 marks an important year for the team to race overseas in 5 international regattas, including Grand Slam Events (Spain, France & Germany), World Championships (France) and European Championships (Germany). The team will not be travelling to LA due to budget restrictions, instead, plan to go to the Olympic Qualifying venue - Gdynia, Poland.

2027 is the year of Country and Individual Olympic Qualification where the team plans to execute internationally, followed by the Olympic Games in July, 2028.

I work casually and study alongside full-time training. Many other countries provide athletes with a monthly wage to commit to full-time Olympic training however this is not the case in Australia.

Any contribution, big or small, goes a very long way in a large budget. To put it into perspective:

    • Hull, boom, boards - $45,000AUD+VAT (UK Manufacturer)
    • Second-hand hull - $20,000
    • Mainsail - $4,000
    • Jib - $1,800
    • Spinnaker - $2,550
    • (Mandatory) Sail Stickers (for new mainsails) - $350
    • In addition to travel expenses ranging $10,000-$40,000 depending on number of events and country.
