ABOUT Felicity Weal
About Me
Hi, I’m Felicity Weal, a proud Australian Para Equestrian rider based in Cowra, NSW with big goals and even bigger dreams. I ride Para Dressage at the highest levels and I’m chasing the goal of representing Australia at the international stage — ultimately, the World Equestrian Games and Paralympic Games.
My Story...so far
Over the past 25 years, I’ve trained and competed across most of the east coast of Australia. In 2017, I was involved in a farming accident that resulted in a spinal cord injury. I became what is called an "incomplete paraplegic" as my spinal cord was not severed, however there was extensive damage.
I originally returned to riding as part of my rehabilitation but mostly because I missed doing it. Horses have always been a central part of my life, and returning to riding gave me back a sense of independence, purpose, and joy. But what began as therapy quickly turned into a high-performance pursuit. Since then, I’ve been pursuing para dressage with everything I’ve got — one ride, one competition, and one goal at a time.
Over the last few years, I’ve competed in state and national events, earned podium finishes, and have been successful at the Australian CPEDI 3* classes (Paralympic level tests).
Recent highlights:
- Winner of the 2023 inaugural Dressage NSW Para Equestrian Annual Award.
- 2024 Overall G3 CPEDI3* Champion, Boneo Park.
- Winner of the 2025 ENSW EA Para Rider of the Year Annual Award.
- Recent winner with 86.3% and 84.3% total scores achieved in open competition (against able bodied riders).
- Highest scoring Para rider across all days at the 2025 NSW State Dressage Championships.
I'm currently working toward qualifying for these vital milestones:
- International para dressage events.
- Being named on the Australian High Performance Squad.
This is a long-term campaign — not just one event, but a multi-year effort to reach the highest level of my sport.
What Your Support Helps Fund
Para dressage is a high-cost, high-commitment sport — and unlike many Olympic & Paralympic sports, equestrians often bear the majority of the costs themselves.
Your donations help cover:
- Entry fees and travel for national and international qualifiers
- Horse transport, care, feed, and veterinary needs
- Coaching, physio, and strength training
- Adaptive gear and equipment
- Stabling, accommodation, and logistics
Whether it's $10 or $100, every bit goes directly toward helping me compete at my best.
Any donation over $2 is TAX DEDUCTIBLE!
Meet My Horse
FTF Florita (aka "Pepper") is my partner in this journey — a 6yrold WB X Andalusian mare, with a gentle soul, cheeky attitude, and a great work ethic. We train together daily and have built a powerful bond that’s key to success in para dressage.
Why It Matters
This isn’t just about sport. It’s about representation, resilience, and showing what’s possible when someone refuses to give up. I do not ride for medals, but to prove that disability doesn’t mean limitation — no matter the obstacle. By riding, competing and pushing my limits, I hope to inspire others with disabilities — and anyone facing a big challenge — to believe in what they can achieve.
And yes — I’d love the thrill of representing Australia on the world stage, but it’s also always about the ride along the way.
