I have been competing on the domestic and international stage as an elite runner for the last two years since making the 2023 World Champs team for Trail Running. This year, coming up in September I have been selected to compete for Australia at the World Champs in two races; the 6k Uphill only race and the 14k Mountain Classic race. Competing for Australia isn't the fancy, all-paid for voyage that many think it is just as competing in some of Australia's marathons isn't a well paid venture too. As an example, my upcoming trip to Spain is entirely self-funded down to the cost of the uniform that I will be competing in.

To fund this trip, and all the other expenses I incur living as an athlete, I work part time as a running coach with RunAsOne. The balance between working part time and trying to train full time is tricky from both a time and financial perspective. Extra things like winning prize money at the recent Sydney Marathon or any donations from this page, go a long way to fund trips like this upcoming one to the World Champs and continuing to try and get the best out of myself with my running.

I am not sponsored and this trip to Spain is fully self-funded, again, even down to the cost of the uniform. It is far more expensive, due to team levies, the uniform and the travel associated, than any of my other normal races but cost shouldn't be prohibitive for an experience like this so I'm going regardless of whether I get donations to help or not.
