ABOUT Gippsland Plains Rail Trail Committee of Management Inc

    Cowwarr, VIC

Gippsland Plains Rail Trail Committee of Management (GPRT) is a volunteer, not for profit organisation that manages, maintains and develops the Gippsland Plains Rail Trail which extends from Traralgon to Stratford, Victoria, a length of 63km. The trial also connects the rural towns of Glengarry, Toongabbie, Cowwarr, Tinamba, Heyfield and Maffra.

The rail trail is used for recreational sporting activities for all ages and abilities and including running, cycling, walking, horse riding etc. and other community activities including charity events, fun runs, and markets. The existence of the trail aids the health and wellbeing of the local communities along the trail and the visitors to the area. The rail trail has a very important environmental role with the trail passing through the significant Gippsland Plains grassy woodlands.

GPRT is very reliant on volunteers, including service groups, along the full length of the rail trail to ensure the trail and its environmental surrounds are maintained and safe for the benefit of all of its users.
