The home of sport in the world’s favourite place to play

Established in 1998, the Gold Coast Sporting Hall of Fame is a dedicated sports museum that recognises the outstanding achievements of local sportsmen and women, while preserving the region’s rich sporting heritage. It is the Gold Coast’s ‘home of sport’.

Currently located in a beautifully restored Queenslander at Owen Park in Southport, the Hall of Fame is operated on behalf of the City of Gold Coast Council and the Gold Coast community by a group of civic and sports-minded people to not only recognise and celebrate sporting excellence, but inspire the next generation of athletes and our community to be active and involved.

Through highlighting and promoting the importance of sport in the Gold Coast lifestyle, the Hall of Fame educates the community on the benefits of being active, while bringing together local sporting organizations in one place through storytelling and connection to our unique sporting culture.  

In addition to acknowledging the personalities themselves, the Hall of Fame also houses an outstanding collection of sporting memorabilia and is the home of Queensland’s only official ‘Olympic Room’, dedicated to Gold Coast Olympians.

Also contained within the Hall of Fame precinct is the Gold Coast Bulletin historical building, which is now home to the Commonwealth Games Legacy Hall. The Legacy Hall is the City's iconic display of memorabilia, collectibles and other pieces associated with the 2018 Commonwealth Games held on the Gold Coast.

The Hall of Fame needs support to not only preserve and grow its collection, but also to realise its strategy of relocating to a purpose-built facility that can better showcase Gold Coast sporting achievements and inspire our future stars.
