    ABOUT Lana Harriott

    Mount Gravatt East, QLD

The Yukon 1000 follows the footsteps of early adventurers through untouched wilderness that few humans will ever experience.

More people have been up Mt Everest than have ventured past Dawson City.

In July 2026, my race partner Jenna and I will paddle 1000 miles from Canada to Alaska, down the Yukon river. This is one of the worlds toughest ultra-endurance races and the worlds longest paddling race. We have been selected as one of 30 teams out of over 6000 applicants from across the world for the 2026 race.

Heard before seen will be the only female team competing in the 2026 race as well as being the first ever Australian all female team to participate.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to do something uniquely challenging, where we will be put to our absolute limits both mentally and physically in one of the most remote landscapes in the world.

We will paddle a tandem kayak, for 18 hours a day, with a minimum enforced rest period of 6 hours a day off the water. Aiming to reach in excess of 200km per day, not just to reach the strict cut off time of 9 days and 18 hours, but to exceed our expectations and give it an absolute crack to finish as fast as possible. The race is completely self sufficient, we sleep where we stop, navigate the river with printed satellite imagery, and must be able to survive this true wilderness.

We're pushing the limits of what ordinary everyday Aussie gals can do, and hope to inspire others to chase their goals, no matter how big or small. When people ask why? The easy answer is: because comfort isn't the goal.

The next 6 months will be dedicated to preparing and training for the race so we both can be at our best come July 2026!

This will involve dedication to training (paddling, strength, cold water immersion), preparation (map building, gear selection, nutrition testing) and refining our navigation, first aid & safety skills to ensure we are are strong and capable as possible.

I'm raising funds and seeking sponsorship to help cover the costs of:

    • Expedition gear and safety equipment
    • Our race kayak (hire fees) and paddling equipment
    • Mandatory survival supplies
    • Logistics, transport, and entry fees
    • Training and preparation costs

Beyond simply completing the race, my mission is to inspire other people, but particularly women, to chase bold goals, step into discomfort, and back themselves in ways they never thought possible.

    For sponsors, this journey offers:

    • Authentic brand storytelling in extreme, remote environments
    • Ongoing social media content, reels, and behind-the-scenes training coverage
    • Media and documentary-style storytelling opportunities
    • Association with resilience, adventure, sustainability, and female empowerment
    • Logo placement on gear, kayak, and apparel
    • Regular sponsor mentions and features across our platforms

We will be documenting every step of this journey from training sessions on the Brisbane River to the final miles in the Alaskan wilderness.
