ABOUT Kaden Larney
I'm Kaden and I am a blind and autistic athlete from Western Australia. My sport of choice? Blind Tennis!
I'm striving to compete at the highest level and have goals to compete at the 2026 Auckland blind and low vision tennis open.
And hopefully in future, the Blind Tennis World championships 2028.
I entered the blind tennis scene in 2022, not competing until late 2023...and I was hooked.
From 2024 to 2026 I worked my way to 2nd in Australia at the 2026 blind and low vision tennis nationals.
And it was far from easy. In WA I am the ONLY competitive b2 to represent WA in 2025 and 2026.
Blind tennis is still such a new sport with so much room to grow and opportunities to compete continue to pop up as popularity grows. With competitions being held in SA, QLD, NSW, VIC, NT in just the past 2 years and now NZ, Lithuania, Spain and ireland just to name a few!
With limited funding available for adaptive sport, the costs of travel, accommodation, coaching, and specialized equipment create significant barriers to attending national tournaments and championship events.
Blind and Low Vision Tennis is a rapidly growing sport that provides opportunities for athletes with vision impairment to compete, build confidence, develop skills, and connect with a supportive community. The sport uses audible balls, modified rules, and adaptive equipment, allowing players with varying levels of vision to participate at a competitive level. National championships and state tournaments continue to expand, creating pathways for athletes to represent their states and challenge themselves against some of the best players in the country.
Travailing to competitions often involves significant expenses, including flights, accommodation, tournament entry fees, equipment, local transport, and training costs. As many events are held interstate, these costs can quickly become a barrier to participation.
Whether through a donation, sponsorship, or simply sharing this campaign, every bit of support makes a meaningful difference. Thank you for being part of this journey and helping make these opportunities possible.
