At Hobart United Football Club, football is about much more than the game. Since our inception in 2002, HUFC has been a community club built on the values of inclusion, respect, belonging, and opportunity. Every week, we bring together people from diverse cultural, linguistic, and social backgrounds to share a common passion for football while building friendships and strengthening our community. Our club is committed to creating a welcoming sporting environment for everyone, with a particular focus on supporting newly arrived migrants, humanitarian entrants, and families who face barriers to participating in organised sport. We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to play, regardless of their financial circumstances, cultural background, or previous experience. Keeping football accessible is one of our highest priorities. As a cost-friendly club, we intentionally keep our registration fees as low as possible and subsidise participation wherever we can. We know that affordable community sport can make a real difference for many families. By reducing financial barriers, we create opportunities for more people to enjoy the physical, social, and emotional benefits that football provides. While we are passionate about developing players, our greatest success is measured by the relationships we build and the sense of belonging we create. We value people over results, community over competition, and personal growth over trophies.

Every training session and match provides an opportunity for people to connect, learn from one another, and become part of a supportive community where everyone feels welcome. Unfortunately, our club recently experienced a significant setback when our portable football goals were stolen from Queens Walk Oval in New Town. The goals, valued at approximately $3,000–$3,500, are essential training equipment used by all of our teams, from our youngest junior players through to our senior men's and women's squads. Their loss has had an immediate impact on the quality of our training sessions, limiting the activities our volunteer coaches can deliver and affecting player development across every age group. For a small community club like ours, replacing this equipment is far from a simple expense. Every dollar we receive is carefully invested in keeping football affordable and ensuring our programs remain accessible to those who need them most. An unexpected cost of several thousand dollars places considerable strain on our limited budget and threatens our ability to continue subsidising participation for families and individuals who rely on our support. Although the theft has been deeply disappointing, it has also reminded us of the strength and resilience of our club community.

This fundraising campaign is directly centred on raising funds to allow us replace the goals that have been stolen and to allow us to continue the vital role that we play in the Hobart community.
