🇦🇺🏑 My Story – From Italy to Australia: Chasing a Dream on Wheels

My name is Manuela Scremin, and I’m proud to represent the Australian Women’s Roller Hockey Team.

Born and raised in Bassano del Grappa, Italy, I grew up surrounded by roller hockey — it’s part of who I am. When I moved to Australia, I brought that passion with me, determined to keep the sport alive and inspire more girls and women to find the same love for it that I did as a child.

This year, I have the incredible opportunity to compete with my teammates in the New Zealand , Asia Games and the World Roller Hockey Championships in Paraguay. These events bring together some of the best teams in the world, and representing Australia on that stage is a dream come true — but it also comes with significant costs.

💚💛 What I’m Raising Funds For

Unlike many professional sports, roller hockey is self-funded in Australia.

Each player is responsible for paying their own way — including flights, accommodation, equipment, uniforms, visas, and tournament fees.

I’m raising funds to help cover these essential costs so we can proudly wear the green and gold and focus on training and performing at our best.

My goal is to raise $ 120000 which will go directly toward:

• Travel to New Zealand , Asia and Paraguay
• Accommodation and meals
• Tournament registration fees and insurance
• Hockey gear, skates, and team uniforms (8 players, 2 Goalkeepers, Coach, Mechanic, First Aid and a Referee)

🌏 Why This Matters

Playing for Australia means more than just competing — it’s about representing resilience, teamwork, and community.

As an Italian-born athlete, I feel incredibly lucky to now call Australia home and to share my skills, experience, and passion for the sport with my teammates here. Together, we’re building something bigger — inspiring young girls to believe that where you come from doesn’t limit where you can go.

This journey is about breaking barriers and showing the next generation that women in sport deserve equal opportunity, recognition, and support.
