Help Venessa Wear the Green & Gold! 🇦🇺

Aussie! Aussie! Aussie! Oi! Oi! Oi!

To wear the green and gold and represent Australia is a dream few get to fulfill. It’s an honour and a privilege I will never take for granted. I’m incredibly excited (and still a little stunned) to share that I’ve been given an opportunity to live out this dream, and compete for my country.

After representing NSW in Tasmania at my first national tournament last year, I was thrilled to be selected for the Australian 45/2 Masters Hockey Team and named as a shadow for the 45/1s heading to the World Cup in the Netherlands in July 2026. To be considered alongside such incredible women fills me with pride and deep gratitude. It also fuels a fierce determination to perform at my best.

Like many athletes, I’m responsible for funding my international representation. The cost of this campaign is substantial, and I’m reaching out for support to help bring this dream within reach.

    How You Can Help

If you’re able to contribute, it would mean the world. Every donation — big or small — helps me get one step closer to the tournament. Your contribution will directly support essential costs such as:

    • International travel and accommodation
    • Team levies, uniforms, and equipment
    • Training camps and preparation requirements
    • Insurance and tournament fees.

If donating isn’t possible, sharing this page with your networks is just as powerful. I’m also open to sponsorship conversations if that’s of interest too, or offline donations.

    My Commitment to You

As many of you know, I don’t usually share much online, but this year calls for a different kind of courage. Growth rarely happens in comfortable places. On my new insta account – @hockeynessau – I’ll be sharing my journey to the Master’s Hockey World Cup in the Netherlands – the good days, and I'll try and be brave and share the not so good days.

You’ll be part of the story, not just a supporter.

Thank you for your support, it means more to me than you know.

    With so much gratitude

p.s. This isn’t just about hockey for me.

My whole professional life has been dedicated to championing health, equity, and human potential — from my work with nib foundation, Injury Matters, NSW Health, Hunter Women’s Centre, and the Philippines Red Cross. This journey is another way I get to live out those values.

It’s about promoting women’s lifelong participation in physical activity and modelling what healthy, active ageing can look like. It’s about bringing inspiration back to my local community and honouring the teammates, mentors, and hockey family who’ve backed me since I was fifteen. They shaped who I’ve become, and this is my way of reflecting their belief with gratitude and purpose.

Participating in sport doesn’t have to disappear after kids or as we get older. It just shifts shape. Motherhood and time don’t mean the door to sport is closed; they just hand you new reasons to walk back in.
