I'm Hwan Bae, an Australian table tennis player and Paris 2024 Olympian.

LA28 is the goal. Not a hope, not a dream I'm hoping falls into place. A goal I've committed everything to.

I left home at 16 to chase this. I dropped out of school, moved across four countries, and now train full time in Seoul, thousands of kilometres from home, because that's what it takes to compete with the best players in the world. Every day comes down to the same choice: keep showing up for something most people would call impossible, or walk away like it was never realistic to begin with. I choose to keep showing up.

Table tennis isn't a funded Olympic sport in Australia. There's no salary, no guaranteed support, no safety net. Every entry fee, flight, and training session comes out of my own pocket. I've never had the easy path, and I've never let that stop me. I'm not chasing this because it's likely. I'm chasing it because I believe it's possible, and I'm willing to put in the work most people won't.
