ABOUT HYOJIN KIM
Sponsorship would directly support my ability to train, compete, and perform at my highest level.
To date, I have personally invested a significant amount of my own finances into training, equipment, travel, and international competitions. While Australian Ice Racing has provided some support, the majority of these costs have been self-funded.
Short track speed skating requires highly specialised equipment, including skating boots, multiple sets of blades, racing suits (including cut-resistant suits), helmets, cut-resistant gloves, and professional sharpening tools such as jigs and stones. Blade performance, in particular, is a critical competitive factor. An athlete typically requires two to three pairs of blades per season, and equipment quality and preparation play a major role in international results.
In leading short track nations, athletes have access to dedicated equipment technicians. Australia does not currently have this level of support, which makes access to high-quality blades even more important. With sponsorship, I would be able to secure the necessary blades for the season, significantly improving my competitiveness and consistency on the ice.
In addition, Australia does not offer sufficient high-level training environments for short track speed skating. As a result, many Australian skaters, including myself, must train overseas. Training alongside world-class athletes allows me to prepare under true competition conditions, improve my performance, and build confidence. Knowing that I am fully prepared physically and technically gives me the confidence to perform at my best during major competitions.
During the 2025–26 season, my competition schedule includes six ISU World Tours, one Four Continents Championships, and the ISU World Championships. While accommodation is partially supported, all other travel, equipment, and preparation costs remain my responsibility.
This sponsorship would allow me to focus fully on training and competition, rather than financial pressure. All support would be directed toward equipment, overseas training, and competition expenses, enabling me to pursue my goals with full commitment and deliver stronger international results.
