My Rugby Journey to New Zealand 🇦🇺🏉🇳🇿
Hi, I’m Jack Canning, a 15-year-old rugby union player from Townsville, North Queensland.Rugby has become a huge part of my life, and I’ve worked hard over the past few years to keep improving and challenging myself as a player. I’ve been fortunate to represent Northern School Sport in the Northern Schoolboys team and Townsville through the Brolgas representative pathway. Each opportunity has helped me develop my skills, confidence and understanding of the game.I’m now incredibly excited to have been invited as one of just 14 U15 boys to take part in the 2026 U15 New Zealand Rugby 7s Development Tour, travelling to New Zealand from 28 November to 5 December. This will be my first opportunity to take my rugby overseas, and it’s something I’m really proud and excited to be part of.
The New Zealand Experience
During the tour, our team will travel to Tauranga, where we’ll have the opportunity to train at the NZ 7s High Performance Centre (The Adams Centre) and play a warm-up match against Bay of Plenty Schools. The highlight will be competing in the NZ Condor U15 National Rugby Sevens Tournament in Tauranga on 3–4 December.Having the chance to play against New Zealand teams, experience rugby in another country and learn from experienced coaches and players will be an incredible opportunity for my development.
Helping Me Get There
The tour cost includes flights, accommodation, transport, meals, playing kit and the rugby development program.Living in North Queensland means there are often significant costs involved in accessing representative and development opportunities, so I’ve created this fundraiser to help my family with the cost of getting me to New Zealand.Any donation, big or small, will help me get closer to my goal and is genuinely appreciated.I’m looking forward to challenging myself, learning as much as I can and making the most of every opportunity while I’m there.Thank you for supporting me and being part of my rugby journey. It means a lot to me and my family.Jack 🏉🇦🇺🇳🇿
