ABOUT Jacqueline Burges

Kiama, NSW

I am incredibly proud to have been selected to represent Australia. This opportunity fulfils a dream I have held since I was 12 years old.

Representing Australia is an incredible honour and an exciting opportunity. However, with rising costs, expenses such as flights, accommodation, and competition fees have created significant financial pressure for me and my family.

I have been playing hockey since I was 11 years old and have consistently competed at a high level, including representing at National Championships in both outdoor and indoor formats. The only break I have taken from the sport was to focus on starting a family and building a business.

Over the past three years, my family and I have experienced both significant challenges and profound joy. Six months after welcoming our first child—a healthy baby boy—I was devastated to learn that I required major, life‑saving abdominal surgery, followed by additional procedures. Despite the difficulties experienced during that period and while still in recovery, I was incredibly fortunate to be blessed with a second (miracle) baby, completing our family with the arrival of another beautiful son in 2024.

Over the past 12 months, I’ve worked hard to rebuild my fitness to a level where I can not only return to sport, but also compete strongly enough to earn selection for a National Team. Reaching this point has been a significant personal achievement, and I’m genuinely proud of the progress I’ve made.

I understand that the current cost‑of‑living pressures are affecting many people, and I truly appreciate anyone who takes the time to read or share this. If you are in a position to contribute, any support—no matter the amount—would mean a great deal and will go directly toward helping me represent Australia at the Masters Indoor World Cup.

Your generosity, encouragement, and even your well‑wishes are deeply appreciated.
