    ABOUT Jacqueline Newbery

We've always considered vision impaired archery a team sport. Although it is the archer who is blind, the support of his Spotter (agent) is invaluable to enable participation.

My dad may not be able to see but being vision impaired (VI) has never stopped his drive to succeed in competitive sports, and I am grateful to be able to help him make it happen. The Australian father-daughter duo pursuing blind archery dream | World Archery.

As a Spotter, my role extends beyond the competition. I ensure equipment is set up and aligned each time we train or compete. In between times, advising on training plans and equipment maintenance needs. We travel together to competitions, which may be held locally, state-wide, or nationally. During comps I am there to give score updates, time checks, make safety observations, and of course, cheer him on, on behalf of the family.

At the Pilsen 2023 World Archery Para Championships | World Archery we came home with the silver medal, Australia's best ever VI archery result. Doing VI Archery is a great opportunity to spend time together, though being a self-funded para classification, it comes at a cost.

This year we are again hoping to make it to the pinnacle VI archery competition, Gwangju 2025 World Archery Para Championships | World Archery, in Korea.

I am raising funds to cover some of the travel expenses to support Dad at the 2025 WAPC.
