    ABOUT James Gebert

Hi, I’m James Gebert — a sprinter from Melbourne and part of the Box Hill Athletics Club & now the Australian Athletics squad.

I’m also currently studying a double degree in Law and Engineering at Monash University, so life is definitely full — but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I got serious about athletics in my final year of school, after recovering from a back injury and deciding to give sprinting a real shot. With the support of coaches like Tamsyn Lewis-Manou and Tony Marsh, and encouragement from my dad (a former sprinter himself), I made the leap — and it’s paid off.

In just a short time, I’ve run a PB in the 100m and earned a spot on the Australian team for the 2025 Pacific Mini Games.

Balancing high-performance sport with full-time study isn’t easy, but it’s taught me resilience, discipline, and the power of staying organised — all qualities I take pride in. Outside of training and study, I work as a maths/chemistry/physics tutor, basketball referee and casual sport coach, and I’m especially passionate about helping young people get involved in grassroots sport. Programs like Auskick, youth cricket and basketball, AFL and school athletics made a big difference for me, and I want to give back however I can.

Any support I receive helps with comp travel, equipment, and the day-to-day costs of pursuing my goals. All donations over $2 are tax-deductible.

If you’ve contributed — thank you for your generosity and support. I promise I’ll work hard to make it worth your while, and I’ll keep striving to represent with pride, positivity, and purpose.
