    ABOUT Jason Mitchell

    Rossmoyne, WA

My name is Jason Mitchell, and sport has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. I started playing soccer and tee‑ball at just five years old, and from that moment on, I was hooked. Through primary school I played three times a week, and as I grew, I added baseball, cricket, basketball and more soccer to my life.

In 2018, I moved from mainstream soccer to Equal Football, where I found a place that understood me — a place where I could excel while also getting the support I needed when things felt overwhelming. I’ve been playing Division 1 soccer since around 2013, and it has taken me on some incredible journeys.

In 2022, I represented Western Australia in the National Division 1 Soccer Team at the Special Olympics in Launceston. Playing against the best athletes from across Australia was an unforgettable experience.

Then in 2025, I was honoured to be selected for the Australian Soccer Team at the Genuine World Cup in Houston, Texas. We competed against 37 teams from 22 nations and proudly finished 6th in the world.

Basketball has been just as important in my life. I played all through high school and joined the Kalamunda team in 2025. I love the speed, teamwork and competitiveness of both sports, and I now play basketball all year round, with soccer in winter.

This year, I’ve been selected for one of the biggest opportunities of my life —

The 2026 Special Olympics National Division 1 Basketball Team, competing in Melbourne this October.

To make this dream possible, each athlete needs to raise $4,500 to cover training, airfares, accommodation, meals, transport and equipment. This is why I’m reaching out for support.

Representing Western Australia means everything to me. Every donation, big or small, helps me get one step closer to competing on the national stage and doing what I love.

Thank you for believing in me and helping me chase my goals.
