ABOUT JASPER BARNETT
Help Jasper Compete at the 2026 Australian Age Swimming Championships
Jasper has qualified for the 2026 Australian Age Swimming Championships, to be held on the Gold Coast from 11–18 April 2026. This will be her second national championships, following a very successful debut last year.
At the 2025 Australian Age Championships, she won an outstanding silver medal in the 50m butterfly and placed 4th in the 50m backstroke, proving she can compete with the very best young swimmers in Australia. This year, she is training with one clear goal — to go for gold.
Jasper has officially qualified for six events and has chosen to focus her preparation on the following four, while also being selected to represent Western Australia in two relay events:
- 14Y Girls 50m Butterfly
- 14Y Girls 50m Freestyle
- 14Y Girls 100m Butterfly
- 14Y Girls 50m Backstroke
Most recently, Jasper competed at the WA State Swimming Championships in Perth (19–22 December), where she delivered an exceptional performance. Competing in the OPEN Women's 50m Fly and 50 Back finals. Setting a new WA 13yr 50m Backstroke record, touching the wall in 30.18.

Based in Broome, a remote town in Western Australia, comes with unique challenges. Jasper does not have access to a 50m pool and has to travel a minimum to Perth to compete. Interstate events involves significantly higher costs than for metro-based athletes. Despite this, she continues to train with focus, determination, and resilience. Working two casual jobs to save for her "Big Trip"
To prepare properly, Jasper will leave Broome on 21st March, spending 16 days training in Perth in a 50m pool before travelling to the Gold Coast on 6 April to compete at Nationals.
Estimated Costs for the Trip
- Airfare: $1,800 per person × 2 (Jasper + Coach/Dad) = $3,600
- Accommodation (Gold Coast, 13 nights): $350/night = $4,550
- Car Hire:
- Perth: $100/day × 12 days
