    ABOUT Jenny Heron

If you’d told me a little while ago that I’d be heading to Japan to represent Australia in tennis, I’m not sure I would have believed you!

But somehow, between teaching a Year 1 class, being a mum to two girls, and squeezing in training and tournaments wherever I can, I’ve been selected by Tennis Australia for the Australian Women’s 35+ team competing at the ITF World Masters Team Championships in Japan this November.

Tennis has always been a huge part of my life, but having my name on an Australian team and getting the chance to compete for my country while representing the Wollongong community on the world stage is something I never really imagined I’d get to do.

Masters athletes are largely self-funded, so I’m raising money to help cover some of the costs of getting to Japan, including flights, accommodation and tournament expenses.

Any support, big or small, would mean so much to me. Whether it’s making a contribution, or simply cheering me on from home, I’m incredibly grateful to have people behind me on this adventure.

It still feels a little surreal to say it, but I’m off to Japan to play for Australia — and I can’t wait!
