    ABOUT Jesse Anderson

Hi, I’m Jesse and I’m 7 years old. I live in Adelaide. I am an Indigenous athlete: Krauatungalang from the Gunaikurnai Nation (East Gippsland, Victoria).

This year I started skateboarding. The first time I dropped into the big bowl at Adelaide City Skate Park and skated around the deep end, I felt so excited. I knew right away that skateboarding was going to be something really special for me.

My coach at Freemind Skate School tells me I’m picking things up fast and that I have a natural talent for skateboarding. That made me feel proud and keen to keep going.

Training, travel and equipment costs all add up fast and even the basic costs are hard to meet. Unfortunately, sport is severely underfunded in Australia, particularly for early starters like me, kids under 12. Many of our families struggle to afford the costs for the basics, let alone development to become a champion.

Now I’m raising some money so I can get more weekly one on one coaching, travel to other States to compete, participate in elite level training, and get the gear I need to stay safe while I keep improving.

Skateboarding makes me feel strong and happy. It’s become a big part of who I am. With your help, I can keep learning, have new experiences, and maybe one day even skate for Australia.

Thanks so much for believing in me and supporting my journey!
