    Jessica's swimming journey

From the moment she first entered a pool at just 3 months of age, Jess has had a natural love of swimming. She’s always been happiest in the water, it’s where she feels calm, confident, and free. What started as a simple joy has grown into a real passion that continues to drive her every day.

Jess competes in the S19 Multi Class category for swimmers with high-functioning autism. The Multi Class system in swimming is a classification framework for athletes with physical, intellectual, or vision impairments. For Jess, understanding her neurodivergence has helped her embrace who she is, and swimming has become a place where she feels completely herself: confident, capable, and free to achieve her best.

2025 has been a true breakout year for Jess. After two challenging years filled with setbacks, she has shown incredible resilience and determination to get back in the pool and chase her goals. In 2023, she broke her wrist which required two surgeries and several months away from all physical activity. Then, in 2024, she faced a persistent ear condition that again kept her away from training for an extended period. Despite these obstacles, Jess never lost her love for swimming or her drive to improve. Her hard work and perseverance throughout these times have made her 2025 achievements even more meaningful.

Jessica’s achievements so far in 2025

    • Achieved national qualifying times for the Australian Age Multi Class Championships and Australian Open Multi Class Championships to be held in Queensland in April, 2026.
    • Competed at the Australian Short Course Championships, making the ‘B final’ of the 50m Freestyle and coming 12th overall in Australia (all classes, open age) in the 400m freestyle (MC) events.
