Kairos Racing is a young Sydney team competing on the 2026 World Match Racing Tour, driven to win the World Tour Final and the prestigious Congressional Cup.

    ABOUT Cole Tapper

    Watsons Bay, NSW

    The team’s progression through the youth grade reflects our hard work and commitment. We’ve proven we can perform under pressure and have built up our resilience through our careers.

     

    Our key achievements to date include:

     

    · 2024 World Sailing Youth Match Racing World Champions (Jeddah, Saudi Arabia)

    · Silver Medal at 2023 World Sailing Youth Match Racing World Championship (Sydney, Australia)

    · Two-Time Governor’s Cup Winners, becoming the 14th team in 58 years to win more than one title. First team in 10 years to go back-to-back (2024 & 2025 -- Los Angeles, USA)

    · Bronze Medal at the 60th Congressional Cup, becoming the youngest team to ever podium (Los Angeles, CA)

     

     

    These results saw the team remain as the World #1 Youth Match Racing Team for over 14 months. Other achievements also include:

     

    · 2025 Thompson Cup - part of the US Grand Slam Series

    · 2025 Oakcliff International - part of the US Grand Slam Series

    · 2025 2nd Overall US Grand Slam Series

    · 2025 Helly Hansen International (CYCA, Sydney)

    · 2025 Warren Jones International (RFBYC, Perth)

     

    Our primary goal moving forward is based on competing on the World Match Racing Tour. We have set ourselves with the intent to compete at all WMRT World Championship events in 2026 including:

     

    · Macao Match Cup

    · 61st Congressional Cup (Long Beach, CA)

    · Match Cup Sweden

    · Bermuda Gold Cup

    · WMRT Final

     

    Our goal is to win the Congressional Cup and WMRT Final for 2026. 

     

    Cole Tapper - Skipper

    Cole joined the CYCA in 2017 year and since then has gone on to represent the Club at six match racing World Championships as well as skippering the CYCA’s entry in the 2024 UniCredit Youth America’s Cup for Andoo Team Australia, finishing fifth overall. A past   National and World Champion, Cole has also claimed back-to-back Governor's Cup titles.

     

    Hamish Vass - Bowman

    Currently balancing a degree in biomedical engineering at the University of Sydney,    Hamish has been by Cole’s side since day one. With Cole, Hamish has represented        Australia at three match racing World Championships, two Congressional Cups and three Governor’s Cups. Aside from match racing, Hamish is an active member in the TP52    Australia & 18 foot skiff classes.

     

    George Richardson - Mainsail Trimmer

    George brings a wealth of experience to the team as one of the primary trimmers for SKH Scallywag 100. The super-maxi has claimed line honours in the 2024 Rolex Middle Sea Yacht Race, finished second for line honours in the Rolex Fastnet Race and is now         preparing for the 80th Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race. George has represented Australia at three match racing World Championships, two Congressional Cups and is also an     Etchells Australian National Champion.

     

    Max Brennan - Trimmer

    Hailing from Newport Beach, California, Max migrated to Sydney, Australia in 2022        following the pandemic to continue his studies in physics at the University of Sydney. Max has had great success in match racing, having competed in four World Championships,       winning the 2022 Youth Match Racing World Championship, as well as claiming two     Governor’s Cup titles in 2021 and 2024.

     

    Nathan Guliksen - Pit/Offside Trim

    Growing up on the New South Wales Central Coast, Nathan joined the CYCA in 2017 through the CYCA Youth Sailing Academy. Over his career, Nathan has claimed multiple match racing titles including the Warren Jones Regatta, Helly Hansen International and  numerous NSW State Championships. Nathan is in his final year as an apprentice with North Sails Sydney, with his current main projects including as primary trimmer on a TP52 and Gunboat 68 multihull.

     

    Jack Frewin - Tactician

    An inspiring sailor residing in Auckland, New Zealand, Jack grew up sailing at the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron. After representing his country as skipper at the 2023 Youth Match Racing World Championship in Sydney, Jack joined the CYCA and Cole’s team with the ambition to claim the 2024 Youth World Championship. Since making the switch, Jack has had a remarkable set of results, becoming World Champion in 2024, claiming back-to-back Governor’s Cups, finishing second at the 2024 WMRT Final and podiuming at every WMRT event he has competed at to date.
