    ABOUT Kaytee Bogaers

    Who am I?

Hi, I'm Kaytee, a 16 year old race walker from Perth, WA. I compete in the 5000m and 10000m race walk. I'm currently ranked 2nd in Australia for the U/18 5000m race walk and 6th in Australia for the U/20 10000m race walk.

    What are my goals?

My goals over the next year are to race in Ballarat, Victoria in August as apart of the winter road walking national championships and place top 3 in the 10km race walk. I'm aiming to also race in the Australian Adelaide invitational race walk championships in February 2026, by placing top 3 in this event I will qualify for the Race Walking World Teams Championships held in brazil in April 2026. This race is an opportunity to race internationally and represent Australia in the 10km race walk on road. In April 2026, I will also have the opportunity to race in the Australian Athletics championships where I will race in the U/20 10000m race walk. Placing top 2 in this race would qualify me for the World Athletics U/20 championships held in Oregon, USA.

Why is this important to me?

I care deeply about qualifying for these international races as they are an amazing opportunity for me to put my name on the international rotation, and they open up new doors for Athletics Australia funding and training camps for me to improve my craft. AA funding and training camps include; Pathway transition program - this is an Athletics Australia funding program for junior athletes within Australia, with being selected for this program, I would have the opportunity to attend a PTP training camp held at the Australian Institute of Sport. Another training camp opportunity is the Australian race walking training camp which is held in January each year and usually takes place in the eastern states. Race walking has been my entire life and it is my ultimate goal to fulfill my childhood dreams of becoming a professional athlete in race walking.

How do I plan to achieve these goals?

I'm committed to focusing on the 1% aspects of race walking and ensuring that I improve each individual component to see overall results. Although juggling high school and race walking is difficult I commit to my time management skills to allow for myself to thrive in all areas. I plan to attend all of my training sessions and doing what I can outside of scheduled training sessions, these external efforts include recovery (foam rolling, use of ice baths, use of compression socks) and improving my core and upper body strength with at home strength and conditioning training.
