ABOUT Kelsie Lang
My name is Kelsie Lang, and I was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I first fell in love with hockey at the age of eight, inspired by Hayley Wickenheiser and the Canadian Women’s National Team winning gold at the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics. Ten years later, I had the incredible honour of playing alongside Hayley with the University of Calgary Dinos, where we earned a silver medal at the Canadian University National Championships.
Throughout my hockey journey in Canada, I competed in six National Championships between the ages of 15 and 21, achieving one bronze and three silver medals. Those experiences shaped me not only as an athlete but as a teammate, leader, and lifelong student of the game.
In 2022, I moved to Sydney, Australia, where I discovered the Australian Women’s Ice Hockey League (AWIHL) and the Sydney Sirens. My first season with the Sirens (2024–2025) introduced me to a passionate community of players and fans who share my love for the sport. Hockey has made Sydney truly feel like home, giving me both a family on the ice and an opportunity to explore this amazing country.
I am incredibly excited for the 2025–2026 season, where I’ll have the privilege of working under the first female head coach in AWIHL history and an all-female coaching staff. Together, we are determined to continue breaking barriers and achieving great things for women’s hockey in Australia.
Support through the Australian Sports Foundationwill directly help me cover essential costs such as training, ice time, equipment, and travel expenses throughout the season. I am deeply committed to contributing to the growth of ice hockey in Australia — not only as a player today, but as a mentor and advocate for future generations of female athletes. I’m proud to represent the Sydney Sirens and to play a small part in advancing women’s sport across this country.
