Kilmore Golf Club has been operating for over 100 years meeting the needs of its members and the local community. The Club has been managed both on and off the course by volunteers. The sprinkler/irrigation system installed in the 1980’s now needs to be urgently upgraded. Leaks occur at many places, many fairway sprinklers are not working, ball valves need replacing and water is not distributed evenly to all parts of the course. The constant repairs on the system takes its toll on course volunteers and is not encouraging more golfers to our course.

The purpose of this fundraising campaign is to boost water efficiency and secure long-term sustainability as well as create optimal playing conditions, improve course quality and create community green spaces

There are 4 stages.

Stage 1

An audit completed of all isolating valves shows 75 need replacing at a cost of $50 each.

(Total of $3750.00)

Solenoids have been located and checked for efficiency. Approx. cost replacement of valves is $150 ea. (Total cost $1560)

Stage 2

Fairway sprinklers will be replaced (approx. 280) on the fairways. At this stage no water is reaching the 14th/15th fairways so more research and investigation is required to trace the contact points needed to address this problem

Stage 3

Installation of a program to regulate the water pressure in the entire system to lessen the pressure and therefore the occurrence of leaks, broken pipes and saving volunteer time

Stage 4

Upgrade of irrigation controllers and better management of irrigation timing.

Purchase and installation of a computerised pumping program to control system remotely

In summary.

It is a long-term project which will save water, lower system pressures, operating costs and volunteer time. It will ensure adequate and correct watering to all fairways, greens and tee boxes to create an enjoyable experience for all golfers who use the Kilmore Golf course.
