    ABOUT Kirsty Van Loon

    Kangarilla, SA

On 8th March 2020, while riding my horse Landmark, I suffered a Subarachnoid Haemorrhage (Secondary to Ruptured Right MCA Bifurcation Aneurysm – with a Right sided Craniotomy and craniotomy clipping of MCA aneurysm with a EVD insertion/ICP insertion), followed by a stroke.  This meant an extended rehab, learning to walk, talk and do the things I’d taken for granted every day until then.  Simple things became frustratingly difficult.  Nevertheless, 2 years on from that fateful day, after hundreds of hours of repetitive rehab and painful physio, I had my first sit on a horse. From there it's been onward and upward. I found my perfect equine partner Nero R and together we have achieved extraordinary results in a very short time. To qualify for the higher level events, we need to travel interstate. Opportunities in South Australia are limited, very limited and travel is expensive, very, very expensive. Nero R and I both require assistance to be able to do the jobs other equestrians can do easily and it all costs money. The time, effort, perseverance, love, passion, energy and determination I can provide each and every day but the dollars do not come as easily. This is where tax deductible donations help the and I want to take supporters along with me through the highs, lows, ups, downs and eventual victories that Kirsty Van Loon Dressage team are capable of. Won't you come with us on the ride? I guarantee it will be fun!
