    ABOUT Kyra Wheatley

Hello! My name is Kyra Wheatley, a 21-year-old Aussie National Alpine Ski Team athlete from Sydney. I’m proud to be Australia’s top-ranked female Ski Cross athlete, currently 29th in the World Cup standings. With the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics and World Cup circuit fast approaching, I am dedicating everything to ensure I’m standing in green and gold with the Olympic rings before me in February 2026—and I need your support to help make it happen.

    Challenges & my journey

Growing up in Australia—a nation not traditionally known for winter sports—has presented unique challenges. Unlike many of my international competitors, I don’t have the backing of fully-funded programs, extensive support staff, or access to state-of-the-art equipment. Instead, I’ve learned to juggle training, travel, coaching, studying, working, and recovery, all while making every opportunity and every dollar count. Ski Cross is one of the most underfunded sports in Australia, and no winter athlete can sustain a professional career on prize money or funding alone. We depend on the generosity of our communities and partnerships to chase our dreams.

My love for Ski Cross began as a kid on snowy slopes, drawn to the thrill of skiing and the fierce competition the sport demands. Ski Cross, however, captured my heart in a way no other sport could—it’s raw, intense, and relentless. Each race is a test of both body and mind, requiring split-second decisions and fearless determination.

The journey hasn’t always been smooth. I’ve faced injuries that threatened to sideline my dreams and moments where doubt crept in. But those challenges have only made me stronger. They’ve taught me resilience: how to rise after every fall, dig deeper when it seems impossible, and push beyond limits I didn’t know I could. At my core, I am fueled by passion, relentless determination, and a belief that hard work can break through any barrier.

    Why your support matters

Despite these hurdles, I’ve fought my way onto the international stage, competing against some of the world’s best Ski Cross athletes. These milestones aren’t just personal achievements—they’re proof that Aussie girls can rise to the challenge, even in a sport dominated by nations with greater resources.

With the 2026 Winter Olympics within reach, my dream feels closer than ever—but there are significant costs involved. Competing at this level requires access to world-class coaching, specialized training, international competition opportunities, and the best equipment. World-class athletes typically spend tens of thousands each season just to stay competitive. That’s where you come in. Your contribution isn’t just financial assistance—it’s a powerful statement of belief in my journey, my resilience, and my dreams. It’s about standing together to show what’s possible when passion meets support.

I’m also seeking partnerships with brands—whether skiing-related or beyond—to help me make this season my best yet. If you know of any opportunities or can share my story with someone who might be interested, it would mean the world to me.
