ABOUT Lee O'Halloran
Before athletics I played professional and first grade rugby in Canada and Australia. Competing in able bodied environments taught me to be resourceful, disciplined and confident in who I am.
Now in para athletics, I bring that same attitude to the track and the gym. I train hard, think carefully about how to get the most out of my body and enjoy challenging expectations of what a para athlete can do. I care about performance, inclusion and
showing that strong expectations and genuine support can exist together. I picked up a shot put for the first time in December 2024, and now hold the Australian and Oceanic Record in F46 Shotput.
With your help, I will win gold at the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games.
I was hesitant to pursue the Paralympic pathway as I was dominant in able-bodied sport and had no example to identify myself with. Paralympic gold and the World Record is my athletic goal, but my reasoning for pursuing sport achieves the following personal goals
that culminate into my mission. Through determination and commitment I will reach the pinnacle of my sport.
Throughout the journey, I want this to inspire everyone to be active and give things a go, even if they think they don’t fit the mould at first.
I have begun to share my journey on social media, and aim to use this platform to reach young Australians with a disability and showcase what can be done if they are creative with their approach towards an active lifestyle or sporting career.
