ABOUT Lexie Feeney
Hi, I am Lexie and I am an archer on the 2025 Australian national team and I am based on the NSW Central Coast.
My goal is to compete at the LA and Brisbane Olympic Games, and become just the 2nd Australian woman to compete at 3 Games. I will be 39 when LA rolls around, proving that age is just a number, and it's never too late to follow your dreams.
The journey to LA starts now, and includes 4 international seasons with multiple trips all across the globe, as well as domestic competitions, trials and training camps.
Like many athletes I have a job, and work full time to afford my mortgage and allow me to fund my sporting ambitions, and my dream of the Olympics. At the moment attendance at competitions is dependent on me having paid leave from work, and enough savings to cover the athlete contributions required by AA. As LA 2028 draws closer, I will need to take unpaid time from work to increase training and competition, which is where fundraising and your support becomes more and more important. Without the help of businesses, fundraising and the ASF many athletes could not afford to compete and live.
Any funds donated here, or raised through fundraisers (including beanies, hats & shirts) will be used directly to support my sporting goals:
- International and domestic travel to competitions
- Medical costs, such as physio
- Purchase of equipment, such as arrows and other archery consumables
Every donation makes a difference, no matter how big or small. With your help my dreams of the Olympics are one step closer to becoming reality again.
Thank you for your support! You can find me on Instagram @LexieFeeney and follow along as I head toward LA.
My story
I competed for Australia at the 2008 Olympic Games and was a quarterfinalist at the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
I stepped away from elite level competition for more than a decade before an injury at the end of 2021 put me on the sidelines of my community-level sports and reignited my desire to compete internationally and represent Australia at the Olympic Games again.
I picked my bow back up in early 2022 and 6 months later I won the women's recurve division at the Australian Open. From there my training has been steady, working to develop a sustainable balance between life and training.
2024 was a standout year in my journey, with my return to the World stage resulting in 3 finals appearances and 1 podium finish.
In April 2024 I represented Australia at the Spring Arrows tournament in Türkiye, securing a 4th place finish with the womens team.
In September 2024 I was on the Australian team for the World Archery Field Championships in Canada, securing another 4th place finish with the womens team and winning silver in mixed teams with Ryan Tyack.
Despite these promising results, no direct athlete funding (Dais) was secured for 2025. Archery Australia (AA) partially funds international travel, but this leaves a lot for athletes like myself to self-fund. I pay for coaching, gym training, shooting equipment, travel to domestic competitions, athlete contributions for travel and competition fees for international representation, and all medical costs.
I grew up shooting, from the age of 11 I dreamed of wearing the green & gold and representing Australia. Making the Australian Olympic team when I was 19 was a dream come true, and I am so incredibly proud to be back in the Aussie uniform once again. I love what I do and would choose to do it all over again.
I have always been encouraged by the archery community, and enjoy being able to pass on my experiences to our young athletes and future Olympians. I am involved in local coaching and supporting Archery NSW's youth development. I am also the Chair of Archery Australia's Athlete Committee, giving athletes a voice in policy and strategy at a national level.
