ABOUT Liam Fowler
My sailing journey started in 2021 at GBYC. I learnt the basics of sailing as I completed the Tackers 1 and 2 programs. I had no idea how much sailing would become as a part of my life. After I finished my tackers program, I transitioned into Pelicans (A small 2-person dinghy) where I crewed for one and a half seasons. During this time, I extended my skills by learning communication, teamwork, and boat handling under pressure. By the 2022-2023 season, I started skippering after receiving a pelican as a Christmas present. Taking control of the boat meant taking responsibility for tactics, starts, performance and most importantly leadership. This was a big step but pushed me to improve. In 2025, I made a major commitment to the sport by purchasing an F18 NACRA Infusion MK1. Moving up into this class had been an absolutely humongous step with an extremely steep learning curve – way faster speeds, tighter racing, larger courses and a much higher level of competition. My first proper regatta in the F18 was the 2026 F18 Australian nationals, as well as the 2026 F18 world championships. These regattas were held in January 2026 at Jervoise Bay Yacht Club (JBYC) It was during the World championship regatta that I was given an amazing opportunity to train on the F15 Nacra (Olympic pathway boat), and head to Sydney in April 2026 to compete in the Australian F15 Nacra nationals. This regatta is the selection event for the national youth team, as well as the qualifier to make the Youth team that heads to Portugal for the 2026 Youth World Sailing Championships. Competing at Youth nationals involves significant costs, including Entry fees, travel, accommodation, boat transport, equipment, maintenance, and food. Your support will go directly to help cover these expenses, allowing me to focus on performing my best. Any contribution truly makes a difference big or small.
Thank you for being a part of my journey
