Hi, I’m Luana Matthies, a 15-year-old surfer from the Gold Coast, Australia.

Surfing has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember, and my love of the sport has grown into a dream of competing at the highest level of longboarding.

Over the past few years, I’ve been competing in events around Australia, travelling to different breaks, meeting incredible people, and learning so much both in and out of the water. Every competition and experience has pushed me to become a better surfer and has made me even more passionate about where surfing can take me.

In July 2026, I reached one of the biggest milestones in my surfing journey so far, winning the Open Women’s Australian Longboard Title. This achievement gave me the opportunity to take the next step and be selected as part of the Australian Irukandjis Team.

Now, I’m super excited to be travelling to El Salvador in 2027 to compete at the ISA World Longboard Championships and represent Australia on the world stage.

This is an amazing opportunity and I’m so grateful to everyone who has supported me throughout my journey so far. I’ve created this ASF Campaign to help fund the costs involved with travelling and competing internationally, and to share this next chapter with everyone who has helped me get here.

I’m excited to see where this journey takes me and to keep working towards my dream of becoming a professional surfer.
