Lucas was diagnosed with Hereditary Spastics Paraplegia at the age of 10. Since then he has gone onto become an amazing Para Athlete, having competed in the 2024 and 2025 Australian Junior Championships. He currently holds 6 Australian Records in his class of T/F35 and hopes to go to the Olympics and represent his country in the future. To get Lucas to these events takes substantial commitment and training. It also takes sacrifice and funding. Athletics is one of the only sports where athletes do not get funding.
