ABOUT Lucas Wareham
I am raising funds so that I can continue to train in the USA and to travel to international competitions. In Sydney, I am lucky to get one hour on-ice training a week and do not have the facilities, coaching or training partners to perform at the elite level I aspire to. I am totally focussed and determined to improve and to be the best. I currently train 6 hours a day, 6 days a week for 46 weeks of the year.
Unfortunately, I receive no funds from the Australian Government and Australian Ice Racing only provides funding during competition periods. I am fortunate, my family have paid for the entirety of my skating career, and I am hoping that other people might like to help me this year in my goal to represent Australia at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games. It costs approximately $40,000 to fund one year of training overseas.
In my down time I enjoy reading, drawing and occasionally writing. I am currently studying for a Bachelor of Science (Mathematics) at Macquarie University. This year I am also determined to learn Japanese.
I am not afraid to give my best in this sport. One of the greatest pieces of advice I have gotten was that anything worth doing, is worth doing right. The period of time for an athlete in their prime condition is fleeting. In thirty years I refuse to look back on this time and think I could have done better. I will do my best and I will continue to put in the effort, those are the things I can guarantee your donations will be supporting.
To all the people who have helped me so far in achieving my goals so far - THANK YOU.
